Half of the world’s plant and animal species call the rainforest home but many are being evicted daily. Since 1960, half of the rainforest has been destroyed. A local organization is working to educate students, the community, corporations, and celebrities about how they can help save the rainforest. See how just one dollar can make a big difference. Live Fit Magazine‘s Phoebe Chongchua has the story.
Cuipo: A Unique Way to Save the Rainforest
Cuipo, a leading conservation organization, and host Ali from the Cartoon Network are reaching the youth and beyond to help save the rainforest. Now teachers, students, the community, celebrities and corporate sponsors are getting involved. Cuipo gets its name from the tallest tree in the Panamanian rainforest. In addition to education, the organization offers a real solution backed by community involvement. It offers consumers and corporate sponsors a chance to save the rainforest, one meter at a time- just $100 gets you 100 square meters of the rainforest the land is safegaurd the environment. Cuipo uses the funds, pooling them together, to purchase large parcels of land for preservation. The land is safeguarded by indigenous groups and local workers, helping to not only preserve the environment but also provide skills for locals. To get involved visit cuipo.org/saveameter.
